Evaluation of hospital hotels in terms of poverty, psychosocial support and medical social services

Hospital hotels; it comes to the forefront as an application that provides a positive contribution to the treatment process financially and morally by providing accommodation to patients and their relatives who have come from outside the province and have accommodation problems. Purpose of the study; evaluation of hospital hotels in terms of poverty, psychosocial support and medical social service. The study was conducted with 10 social workers working in Van Regional and Training and Research Hospital, 30 patients staying in the patient guesthouse (hospital hotel) within the municipality and their relatives, with a total of 40 participants. Data were collected with the qualitative research method with 11 semi-structured interview questions and analyzed with the MAXQDA program using the descriptive analysis technique. Study; it is gathered under the theme of Referral Processes to the Guesthouse and Guesthouse Services. 12 codes were created under the theme of Referral Processes to the Guesthouse. The participants expressed intense opinions under the code of the effects of not having a hospital hotel. The Guesthouse Services theme was created from 3 categories. Positive thinking; providing services to meet personal needs, negative thinking; lack of breakfast in the morning, recommendations; they expressed intense opinions under the codes of being closer to the hospitals and expanding the service. As a result of the negotiations, with the provision of hospital hotels; it is seen that it contributes to narrowing the impact of poverty, increasing the importance of psychosocial support and the applicability of medical social work.
