Abstract (EN)

This study aims to contribute to harmonizing the management of hazardous chemicals in hospitals with environmental sustainability and public health. The management of hazardous chemicals in healthcare settings, particularly in hospitals, presents a complex challenge that intertwines public health, safety and environmental sustainability. This descriptive study was conducted in a Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul between March and May 2024. Risk Analysis was performed by Fine Kinney Method and the risk assessment table includes the number, hazard, risk, current situation, probability, frequency/frequency, severity, risk score, measures to be taken and activities to be carried out, deadline, responsible person information identifying each hazard and risk. In addition, this research identifies the potential hazards associated with the storage, use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and emphasizes the measures that should be taken to protect patients, healthcare workers and the environment. Effective management and risk analysis of hazardous chemicals in hospitals is critical to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff and the wider community. In this context, it would be appropriate to evaluate how hospitals can create a safer, healthier environment for everyone through careful management, comprehensive training and continuous improvement.
