The inquiry into the impacts of noise pollution around airport on educational constructions: A case from Trabzon

In recent years technological developments due to the increase in population lead noise to increase the environmental pollution. When evaluated in terms of health, especially during children's developmental ages, it is inevitable to see the negative impacts of noise on human health. Throughout the study, the researcher examined the impacts of outdoor noise pollution on educational buildings in which children spend most of their developmental period. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to explore the negative impacts of airport noise pollution on children's education process in schools around the airport. In the first part that forms theoretical knowledge, within the literature review, the researcher gave general information about the definition of noise, the impacts of noise on human's health and the measures to be taken to prevent the noise. This was followed by the specific information about the negative and positive impacts of noise on educational constructions. In the second part, in accordance with the purpose of the study the researcher prepared the questionnaire forms through the methods and concepts from the previous literature sources and implemented the questionnaire for students and teachers during the course of flight. While the questionnaires were implemented, the researchers measured the noise in the classroom at certain points through SVAN 971 that is a sound level meter and analyzer. In the third part, the analysis of the questionnaire results through SPSS was presented and the answers to the questionnaire were evaluated depending on the measuring ranges from SVAN PC. In the conclusion part, the researcher shared the related topics and sophisticated suggestions in accordance with all analysis results.
