Abstract (EN)

The air transportation sector is highly sensitive to environmental factors as the economic and political crisis, oil prices, exchange, the development of technology and etc. These types of the environmental risks are not able to prevent by the businesses. Therefore, the correct identification and management of the risks from within the industry by businesses is very important for the sustainability of the activities. In this study, a decision support system model is proposed for decrease of the delays that are one of the most important problems of the civil air transportation sector. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is selected for application area. In the first part of the study, the structure of businesses? airline operation, that are involved in the airline service process, is summarized and identified. In the second part of the study, the approaches of the delays prevention are discussed. The third part of the study, An Activity Based Network of Airline Service that is specified for the Ataturk Airport, is created. After the source of delays and preventions of the delays are identified the Decision Support System Model is designed. The final stage of the research, Decision Support System Model is evaluated by semi-structured interviews and simulation methods.
