Abstract (EN)

Hayrullah Efendi was a historian, scientist, statesman, and chief physician who lived in the 19th century and demonstrated expertise in various fields. This versatility not only made him a remarkable figure, but also elevated him to the status of one of the leading figures of his time. Hayrullah Efendi, in his work titled Tarih-i Hayrullah Efendi, aimed to write a separate volume for each Ottoman sultan and planned a total of thirty-two volumes; however, he was only able to complete fourteen volumes of this grand project. The work was later continued by Ali Şevki Efendi with appendices up to the eighteenth volume. This final volume covers the reign of Sultan Ibrahim during the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and also forms the primary source for this research. In this context, the aim is to transcribe the aforementioned Volume XVIII into modern Turkish and evaluate the text. The primary source of the thesis is the printed work titled "Hayrullah Efendi, Tarih-i Devlet-i Aliyye-i Otmaniye," Istanbul 1292/1875, A.or. 6699 t-10/18, urn: nbn:de:bvb:12-bsb11312534-6. In addition, archival documents, copyrighted works, and Ottoman Turkish-Turkish dictionaries were utilized; the analysis of the obtained data was conducted in accordance with the qualitative research method. This study evaluates the author's perspective on historical writing through a transcription text and provides a guiding foundation for future research.
