Innovative baby designs within the scope of gift and touristic product development

One of the best ways to transfer and introduce our traditional clothing culture to future generations is rag dolls. In the globalizing world, changes in the tourism sector are also reflected in the production of souvenirs and tourist goods. In order to adapt to these changes, the most important element is to preserve cultural values and market them without corrupting them. It has been observed that rag dolls have been used both as toys and collection items until today. Apart from being girls' toys, it is important that rag dolls are marketed as tourist souvenirs and contribute to the local economy, the promotion of the regions and tourism, and that other alternative usage areas are emphasized by using different filling materials. It is estimated that innovative rag dolls, produced with natural materials, healthy, environmentally friendly and that can attract the attention of tourists, will be in demand. The aim of this study is to design and implement innovative rag dolls to be used as souvenirs and tourist items. The objectives of this study are to make rag dolls that reflect the local clothing culture of Nevşehir and contribute to the promotion of the region, to draw attention to the art of tragacanth dolls that are about to be forgotten, to reveal the usability of different filling materials in rag doll designs, and to open a new window to recycling through rag dolls by making designs from leftover materials. Within the scope of the study, firstly, the body skeletons of the babies were prepared. The designed dolls were implemented in different sizes. During the application phase, the dolls were filled with filling materials such as cherry seeds, lavender, cotton and corn husks, in the sizes and materials specified in the design.
