ABSTRACTMaster ThesisOXIME DERIVATIVES AND REACTIONS OF HEXAKIS(2-FORMYLPHENOXY)CYCLOTRIPHOSPHAZENESOrhan PAMUKÇİGraduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesDepartment of Chemistry2006, Page: 62In this study, hexachlorocylotriphosphazene(1) was reacted with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde.From this reaction, hexakis(2-formylphenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene (2) was obtained. Sincehexachlorocylotriphosphazene is sensitive to air and moisture, experimental studies were carriedout at without air and moisture in argon atmosphere. Hexakis(2-[(hydroxyimino)methyl]phenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene (3) was synthesized from the reaction of 2with hydroxlaminehydrochloride in pyridine.Compound 3 was reacted with allyl bromide, chloroacetyl chloride, benzoyl chloride,propanoyl chloride, methyl iodide, ethyl bromide, 4-methoxybenzoyl chloride, acetyl chloride, benzylchloride and 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride. The structure of the compounds were defined by elementelanalysis, IR, 1H, 13C, and 31P-NMR spectroscopy.Hexasubstituted compounds were obtained from the reactions of 3 with allyl bromide, benzoylchloride, propanoyl chloride, methyl iodide, ethyl bromide and 4-methoxybenzoyl chloride via all ofthe oxime protons replacement with alkyl or aryl groups. However, disubstituted product formed fromthe reaction of 3 with chloroacetyl chloride. Pure and defined products could not be obtained from thereaction of 3 with acetyl chloride, benzyl chloride and 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride.KEYWORDS: Hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene, phosphazene, cyclophosphazene, oxime,oxime-phosphazenes.
