Determination of the effect of nurses' informatics competencies and technology-related stress on their work performance

Abstract (EN)

The study revealed that nurses' informatics competences and technology-related stress are related to their job performance on the effect of the study on the behaviour of the patients in the study. Descriptive cross-sectional realised 147 nurses were included in the study. In data collection, "Introductory Characteristics Form", "TIGER Based Nursing Informatics Competencies Assessment Tool", "Techno-Stress Scale" and "Individual Work Performance Scale" was used. The data were evaluated by t test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson correlation and linear regression (stepwise) analysis. According to linear regression (stepwise) analysis, four factors of the TIGER-Based Nursing Informatics Competencies Assessment Tool and one factor of the TSS were found to be effective on the IWPS (p<0.05). These variables explain 29.0% of the change in IWPS total score (R2= 0.290). According to the model, it was determined that the total score of the 'techno-complexity' sub-dimension of the TSS and the total score of the IWPS showed a significant negative relationship (p<0.001). According to linear regression (stepwise) analysis, it was found that the techno-complexity sub-dimension of the technostress scale negatively affected individual work performance (R2= 0.138, B= -0.305, p< 0.001). According to the linear regression (stepwise) analysis of the TIGER-Based Nursing Informatics Competencies Assessment Tool and TSS total score on the IWPS total score, TSS was found to be significant for the model. According to the model, it was determined that TSS total score and IWPS total score showed a significant negative relationship (p<0.001). When TSS total score increases by one unit, IWPS total score decreases by 0.3 units (B= -0.332, p< 0.001). The variable in question explains 12.0% of the change in the total score (R2= 0.120). As a result, it was determined that nurses' individual work performance decreased with the increase in techno-complexity and general technostress levels. In line with these results, it is recommended to provide trainings to reduce the technostress levels of nurses.
