Occupational legal and penal responsibilities of obstetric nurses in nursing practice and duties

This study focuses on legal and penal responsibilities of obstetric nurses, occupational risks against which legal proceedings have been filed, and practices involving most of the errors. In fact, most of the criminal lawsuits filed against nursing practices are not for malicious crimes, but for offenses committed due to imprudence, carelessness, negligence or vocational inexperience. Therefore, quality of internal training given to nurses must be increased and nurses must be informed of possible legal and criminal outcomes of their practices in order to protect them and help human health to be protected. In this country nurses must know their legal responsibilities and the applicable laws, decrees and regulations to protect themselves. This will help them solve their vocational problems too. This study aims to create awareness by answering the question that what legal problems do obstetric nurses frequently face.
