Nurses satisfaction, burnout and compassion fatigue on the effect of these factors on job satisfaction

The aim of the study was to determine the satisfaction, burnout and compassion fatigue levels of nurses and to evaluate the effects of these factors on job satisfaction. After obtaining the necessary permissions 957 nurses working in Diyarbakır S.B.Ü Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital were included in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 303 nurses who met the inclusion criteria and agreed to participate in the study. "Nurse Information Form, Professional Qualitiy of Life Scale and Nurse Job Satisfaction Scale" were used to collect data. The data collected by face-to-face interview technique were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 package program. In the research, t test, anova analysis, Pearson correlation analysis were used. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05 in the analysis. In the study the average occupation satisfaction score was 25.98± 8.73, the average burnout score was 21.40± 5.77, the average mercy fatigue score was 15.70± 6.92, and the average Nurse Job Satisfaction score was 11.46± 2.17. Job satisfaction and burnout are negatively correlated with compassion fatigue, positive work-related emotions, appropriate support from superiors, perceived importance in the workplace and pleasant working environment; A significant negative correlation was found between importance and pleasant working environment. A positive and significant relationship was found between compassion fatigue and positive feelings about work. It was seen that the professional satisfaction of the nurses participating in the study was low, burnout and compassion fatigue were medium, the general job satisfaction score was medium. It was seen the job satisfaction of women was higher than that of men. The compassion fatigue, burnout and satisfaction level experienced by nurses can be measured at certain intervals and job satisfaction can be increased by improving these parameters.
