Studying socio-economical aspects of Hendek District from Tax records related to years 1844 and 1845 revals that the district consisted of 11 sector and 4 villages with approximated 2545 people.Studying ethnical structure of the district showes that majority of people were Turkish and the minorities were Arab, Tatar, Kazakh, Laz and Copt. It is possiable to estimate the charactristics such as their job, where they come from, their asstes, physical charactristics, religon and their relatives from their nicknames of the family head. The Hendek Distirict economy were mainly based on the agricultural economy . It can be seen in the central part of district the tradesmen at same time were dealing with agriculture. The records show information about profession groups and their incomes. Further more detailed information on total amount of agricultural lands, fallowing lands, products and activities can be reached. It is observed that in Hendek District and villages stock raising were done along with cultivation. Stock raising were not done for incomes but for their needs. Moreover the records give some information about tax load in the district. Also, information about collecting special tax from people, tax equal to one-tenth of income, head tax from non-Muslims is inferable. It can be seen that head tax collecting from non-Muslims still were collecting from Copts despite the fact that they had selected Islam as their religion.
