Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Effect of Videolaryngoscope and Conventional Direct Laryngoscope on the Hemodynamic response in Hypertensive and Normotensive Patients. Background and objectıve: It is known that hemodynamic instability such as tachycardia and high blood pressure which can be significantly harmful to patients can occur during endotracheal intubation and laryngoscopic procedures especially in patients with cardiovascular diseases. We hypothesized that using video laryngoscopy can cause a less hemodynamic response and shorter duration of intubation. procedure through better visualization of glottis. Goal of this study is to compare the effect of video laryngoscopy and conventional laryngoscopy on hemodynamic response and ET duration under general anesthesia in patients with hypertension Methods: This study is designed as a prospective randomized controlled study. One hundered hypertensive patients (H) and one hundred Normotensive patients (N) who underwent elective surgical procedures under general anesthesia are included in the study. Patients were intubated either via C-MAC video laryngoscope (V) or conventional Macintosh laryngoscope (D). Patients are grouped as HV, HD, NV, ND. Patients hemodynamic parameters( Preoperative, after induction, after intubation, and post-intubation until the first 5 minutes), airway evaluation measurements, procedure duration and patients demographic characteristics are recorded. Findings: In hypertensive group post-intubation 4th and 5th minutes ( T4, T5) KH values are significantly low, on the other hand, SAP, DAP, and MAP values are always significantly high (p>0.05) compare to the normotensive group. There was no overall difference between KH, SAP, DAP, MAP value of group HV, HD and group NV, ND (p>0.05). Videolaryngoscopicly intubated patients have a statistically significant shorter duration of intubation compare to the conventional laryngoscopicly intubated patient (p=0,001) Conclusion: Effect of both Storz C-MAC video laryngoscope and conventional Macintosh laryngoscope on the hemodynamic response in hypertensive patients and normotensive a patients is similar. Storz C-MAC video laryngoscope has shorter ET duration compare to the Conventional machintosh laryngoscope.
