Abstract (EN)
The present study aimed to explore the self-efficacy beliefs of in-service English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers for technology integration. This study has also examined teachers? perceived English language proficiency, the factors influencing the integration of technology and the difference between actual practices for technology integration and perceived self-efficacy for technology integration. This study employed an explanatory mixed method design, and the quantitative and qualitative data were collected in two phases. 114 in-service English language teachers working in the Fatih project pilot study high schools of Sakarya participated in the quantitative phase of the study. The quantitative survey data were gathered through a scale designed to measure self-efficacy for technology integration. In the qualitative phase, structured interviews were conducted with 12 volunteer teachers of English, and then classroom observations of 3 teachers? classes were implemented via semi structured observation guide. The findings of the study revealed that the participants reported high levels of perceived self-efficacy beliefs for technology integration, and their perceived level of English proficiency was also high. Concerning demographic variables, one-way ANOVA indicated significant differences for gender and computer use in self-efficacy for technology integration. In addition, there was a strong and positive correlation between English language proficiency and self-efficacy for technology integration. With respect to interview results, external/environmental and personal factors explored affecting teachers? technology integration practices. The last finding of the study indicated a mismatch between perceived self-efficacy beliefs for technology integration and actual classroom practices of in-service English language teachers.
