Origin of Pb/Zn mineralizations in carbonate rocks in Horzum-Kozan (Adana) region

Abstract (EN)

In the study area located between Kozan-Feke districts in the northeast of Adana province, there are different allochthonous structural units represented by stratigraphic and tectonically related different age environments and rocks. The mineralizations are found in the light colored limestones of the Çaltepe formation, which are composed of dolomite, dolomitic limestone and occasionally crystallized limestones. The general stance of the mineralization is northeast oriented and inclined to southeast. The primary sulfur minerals in the mineralization are galenite, sphalerite, pyrite and rarely chalcopyrite. In the oxidized ore zone, simitsonite, hydrozinkite, goethite, limonite and a small amount of serusite minerals were occured. The results of 34S analysis of sulphide minerals pyrite, sphalerite, chalcoppyrite and galena were determined in the range of ‰18.2 to 26.1. According to Pb isotope analysis results from galena samples 206Pb / 204Pb ratio varies between 17.88-18.54. 207Pb / 204Pb values were between 15.62-15.7 and 208Pb/ 204Pb values were determined in the range of 37.94-39.20. According to the results of 13C and 18O isotope analysis of Simithsonites, 13C ratio ranges change between ‰-6.68, 8.96 and ‰-9.72. Oxygen isotope values are between ‰-4.8, 5.46 and ‰-0.955%. In the fluid inclusion studies made of sphalerite mineral, homogenization temperature data was calculated 235°C. Occurrence of mineralizations by replacement, mineral associations, main-trace element contents, fluid inclusion data and isotope studies indicate that mineralization may be associated with buried intrusive, Carbonate Replacement Type.
