Abstract (EN)

In this study, one of the first Islamic historical prophetic biography sources written by Ibn Hisam was compared. to Ibn Ishaq's work rewritten based on Ibn Hisham's. The study consists of an introduction and four chapters which were classified according to the narrations made in this work. It was found that previous studies in the related field until now has been carried out by taking only a few narrations. The study is of great importance as it reveals a holistic view on Ibn Ishaq's narrations. Document analysis was used to collect data for the study, and the data were analyzed through comparative analysis method. Ibn Hisam's narrations were analyzed mainly based on the work written by Ibn Ishaq in terms of content. The result of the study reveals that Ibn Ishaq's work was not written by only one person; that is to say, the same text was practiced and rewritten by many others until present day. The narrations in the well-known work attributed to Ibn Ishaq do not only belong to him, and similarly, some other narrations in other works referred to be Ibn Ishaq's do not belong to him. In connection with this, the study fulfills the need to remove the confusion in the literature. As a result of the comparison, it was found that there are significant differences between these two works.
