Özet (EN)

The research deals with the security of modern architecture, with the inner center. Modern architecture contradicts conservation theory when the old is defined as the new. However, in the recent past, on the destruction of many modern architectural heritages, modern architecture has been accepted by the conservation theory and studies have been carried out for the preservation and documentation of modern architecture. Apart from the demolition, the preservation of the modern interiors is an important problem due to the interventions made in the interior of the existing building. Since the interior is in direct contact with the user, it is open to later interventions. The research aims to address this problem through a cinema structure. Many cinema structures have been lost as a result of internal interventions, with or without demolition. For this reason, a cinema structure was chosen as an example. Kavaklıdere Cinema, one of Nejat Tekelioğlu's apartment cinema buildings, built in 1965, constitutes the sample of the research. The 1960s are also considered as a breaking point for the history of Turkish cinema, and this period is defined as the golden age because it is the date of the emergence of Yeşilçam. In the period when there was a serious demand for cinema in the society, the number of cinema structures increased considerably. It can be said that the movie theaters with apartments also contributed to the increase in the number of cinemas. Cinema venues, which were very popular in the specified period, have an important place in the memory of the society. Kavaklıdere Cinema, an apartment cinema structure that started operating in the 1960s, is a good example to analyze the period. For this reason, after the 1980s, movie theaters started to close slowly. Kavaklıdere Cinema is one of the closed cinema structures. Although the building does not continue to operate today; It has not been demolished, has not changed its function, and is in a closed condition in its current form. Cinema structures such as Kavaklıdere Cinema, which have an important place in the memory of the society, have been lost due to changing habits. Today, very few cinema structures continue to exist, so the necessity of protecting these structures has arisen. In the first part of the research, the definition of modern architectural heritage and the studies on protection are expressed with the focus of interior space. Value-centered conservation approach is explained and value definitions of different researchers and institutions are included. In the other part, the emergence of cinema and its spatialization process are explained. In the last section, an interior analysis was made through the plans and interior photographs of the Kavaklıdere Cinema, which was chosen as a sample. The owner of the cinema, A.N. and Z. Ş., who has been the manager of the cinema for many years. and finally İ.D., who ran the cinema from 1991 to 2007. An oral history interview was conducted with Finally, Kavaklıdere Cinema was evaluated within the framework of value-centered conservation approach. Value analysis of the building was made. As a result of the evaluations, the values that Kavaklıdere Cinema should have in order to be considered as a modern architectural heritage were analyzed and the necessity of protection was emphasized. Along with the research, documentation and valuation, it served as a base for the work to be done for the preservation of Kavaklıdere Cinema.
