Flexible design for the interiors: Recent approaches towards the home-office concept

Abstract (EN)

Changing conditions and requirements over time happen to shape the interiors as well. Flexible designs ensure meeting the ever-changing and developing needs of the users in a practical and fast way and adding functionality to the space. Offices and residences, where most of the life is spent, started to coalesce especially during recently, and the home-office concept became more popularized. In addition to an examination of the objective needs of home-office employees such as equipment and hardware required for working from home, the present study aimed to examine other expectations of the employees as regards the home-office, to conduct necessary research so as to contribute in the improvement of working conditions, and to see the effects of flexible design solutions on certain factors, including the employee's work efficiency and motivation, etc. The scope of the present study also included an examination of the impact of the flexibly designed home-office solutions on the extent and the reasons associated with the employees' continued work from home, further, a prediction as regards the future status of home-offices was also incorporated therein. Accordingly, a survey was conducted with 50 people working from home, and the collected data were processed using the SPSS program. In addition to a presentation of the study results, relevant solutions were suggested as regards the points of concern found at the end of the study.
