Abstract (EN)

Each new piece of information learned in history refutes the previous one and gives different perspectives to the person or society. Unless the accuracy of the information obtained is not reflected and proven by the sources, the wrongly known information will multiply like a virus and disperse in the society. In order to prevent this, II. In this study, which we publish the Ertuğrul Cavalry Regiment, one of the guard battalions of the Abdülhamid period, it is aimed to shed light on some obscure parts of military history and to bring the hidden information to light. Despite the developing military technologies, the Guard Battalions still exist, even if it is symbolic. The fact that this situation has become symbolic is also a proof that the state has a strong traditional structure. By taking a look at the foundations of this tradition, the importance of the cavalry units formed in the recent period is revealed. In the thesis in which the deductive method is used, the conditions of the period and the evolution of the Ottoman military order are explained. In this thesis, which was prepared by creating a qualitative thesis, objectivity was given importance as much as possible. As a requirement of scientific research, a systematic data collection was aimed. Basic, Primary and Secondary sources were used. In the thesis, which is aimed to be based on the information contained in the Ottoman documents, the way of performing meaning analysis from the information and making inferences between secondary sources was preferred due to the fact that some of the documents could not be found. Although the importance of Ottoman archival documents is seen once again in our thesis, the existence of many missing documents is felt. The findings of the March 31 event, which is a dark period in history, were evaluated and added to our thesis. The conflict experienced in this period was sometimes contradicted by the memories of the period and the Ottoman documents. By including both information, it is also aimed to reveal the conflict between them. Keywords: II.
