Abstract (EN)
Sipikan tribe, like many Kurdish tribes, is a militant and warrior tribe that lived borderline both in the Ottoman Empire and in the state of Iranian. Sipikan tribe is a public that is from Mosul geography according to Serefname which is the oldest written source of Kurdish history. Sipikan tribe had met with Islam in the time of Hazrat Umar. Since then, they had been actively involved in military affairs in many Islamic states. Sipikan trible had come under the rule of Umayyads, Abbasids, Ayyubids, Seljuks and Ottoman Empire. Sipikan tribe had started to take an active role in the Ottoman Empire in the time of Selim II. Sultan II. Selim had placed Sipikan tribe to consolidate the border line on the Ottoman Iranian border. Thus, the eastern border had been secured. It had became part of the endless problems after the Ottoman Iranian border had been determined by the Kasrı Sirin Treaty. Dervis Pasha who was appointed to Van as a safeguard had used the tribe for his self interest. Sipikan tribe had had many problems with the other strong tribes of the region like the Haydaran, the Jalali and the Zilan tribe and they had interfered among themselves. Sipikans that lived in border line had taken refuge in other state when they had had problems with the state they were subjected to. The other problems of Sipikans that lived in border line were issue of summer pasture-winter quarters, invasion of the land, issue of problematic places, rebellions.
