Prof. Dr. A. Kamil TANRIKULU In this study, a model based on finite element method is proposed for the solution of two and three dimensional elastodynamic soil-structure interaction problems. By this method, problems are analyzed by discretizing the near field with finite elements and the far field extending to infinity with several multi-wave infinite elements. Harmonic or arbitrary transient loadings are considered separately. In the case of arbitrary transient loading, the formulation is performed in the Laplace transform domain, and the solution is then obtained in the time domain by an appropriate numerical inverse Laplace transform technique. In the case of ground motion, two dimensional problems are also considered directly by using finite and infinite elements, while three dimensional systems are analyzed by Substructure method. The results of several sample problems obtained by the programs prepared in this study are in good agreement with those available in the literature. Key Words : 2 and 3 dimensional elastodynamic problems, Direct and inverse Laplace transform, Dynamic soil-structure interaction, Finite Elements, Infinite Elements. VI
