Özet (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to develop a valid and reliable scale to determine the basic concept improvement of bilingual Syrian children were educated in Turkish in consideration of COLOR, LETTER, NUMBER, SIZE, COMPARISON, SHAPE, DIRECTION-POSITION, QUANTITY, TEXTURE-MATERIALS, SOCIAL ROLES, EMOTIONS, AND TIME-ORDER. In the research process, the survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. In the first stage, a draft scale consisting of 11 sub-dimensions and 185 items was created. The content, face, and construct validity of the draft scale were examined. Then, it was applied to 103 students between the ages of 8-12, whose first language was Arabic and who received Turkish language education, studying at a Temporary Education Center in Istanbul. The data were analyzed in terms of item difficulty and item discrimination; 185 items were reduced to 111 items. Reliability was evaluated according to KR-20 and Cronbach alpha values; consistency was observed for both values. Accordingly, it was concluded that the scale had sufficient reliability. As a result of the cluster analysis, it was revealed that the scores that can be obtained from this scale can be evaluated at three levels as "high", "medium" and "low" achievement.
