Ilkhanid Sovereign Abaqa Khan and the world around him

Ilkhanid State, which dominated Iran and its surroundings in the middle of the 13th century, became a significant political power that brought major changes throughout the Near East before long. The reign of Abaqa Khan, the son and heir of Hülegü Khan, the founder of the state, represents a key historical process not only for Ilkhanids but also for surrounding geographical areas and supreme powers. The subject of this thesis, on the basis of the historical personality of Abaqa Khan, the second ruler of the Ilkhanid State, during his reign covered the year 1265-1282, the internal and external issues of the state and its political, diplomatic, and socio-cultural relations with the near and far world around it. In this scope, first of all, Abaqa Khan's birth, childhood and education, youth, heirship, and the process of his accession to the throne were discussed. Then came his reign process and the political history of the Ilkhanid State during the reign of Abaka Khan was included. In the third chapter, the administrative structure of the Ilkhanate State during the Abaka Khan period, its relations with the subordinate states and local dominions, and his foreign policy are discussed. Finally, Abaka Khan's death, his personality, his family, and religious and scientific men who lived in this period, due to his religious and scientific aspects, were mentioned. This thesis, which is basically biographic and monographic research, was written to look at the Ilkhanid ruler Abaqa Khan from a different point.
