Determination of the ideas of primary school4. and 5. class teachers towards multiple intelligence theory and its aplication

This study was carried out based upon the teachers? opinions in order to determine the ideas of class teachers working in primary schools towards Multiple Intelligence Theory and its application.The study that was carried out in Diyarbakır city in 2007-2008 education years was applied to the teachers who teach the 4. and 5. classes of the first degree in primary schools by means of a questionnaire application. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS for Windows being a package program. In the analysis of the data, arithmetic average, frequency, percentage, ?t? test, variance analysis, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Man Whitney U tests were used. The findings obtained from the analysis of the data can be summarized as following.In the study it was determined that the teachers are for the opinion that they are well sufficient enough about information related to MIT, that they partly follow the developments and researches done about MIT, that they care about MIT when they plan teaching and they have information on the means determining different intelligence fields.The teachers sated that the MIT applications are more effective on the permanency in learning, teaching according to MIT give better results compared to traditional methods, students? participation in the lesson increased while teaching was done according to MIT, and the students with difficulty in learning were more successful. Besides, the teachers stated that they lacked instruments, the course books prepared in the frame of NPSP and teachers? guide books were not supportive enough, they were unhappy with the crowded classes, and both they and the administrators needed education. It can be claimed that they expectations from the Ministry of National Education and academicians in the universities for the problems to be solved.Key Words: New Primary School Program, Multiple Intelligence Theory, Multiple Intelligence Theory Applications, Traditional Method
