Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to survey the opinions of the 7th grade social studies teachers about the gains of the unit of the Journey through the Turkish History.Universe of this research includes 36 teachers who were selected with the method of systematic sampling, lecture in social studies course of 7th grades and employed in 32 elementary schools of the National Education Ministry in Mamak, Ankara in the academic year of 2008-2009.Data are obtained by the questionnaire which is oriented to determine the teachers? views about the gains of the unit of the Journey through the Turkish History. In the analysis of findings, frequency (f) and percentage (%) are formed and interpreted by using ?SPSS 15? (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program.In the final part of this research, it is examined whether there is any difference in the elementary schools? Social Studies teachers? assessments considering their sex, education level, service year, and course fields about the gains of the ?Journey through the Turkish History? unit which takes place in the Culture and Patrimony chapter. Besides, the proposals derived from the literature and the questionnaires are given.At the end of the questionnaires and the literature search, it is also aimed to provide thought and views about the acquisition level for the gains of this chapter and the solutions to the problems encountered while studying the chapter.
