The effect of effective communication skills and empathic skills training on communication and empathic skills of the 8'th grade primary school students

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Effective Communication Skills and Empathic Skill Training on 8?th grade primary school students? communication skills and empathic skills.In the study, carried out as a true experimental design, there were two groups, namely, an experimental group and a control group. The study was conducted in Namık Kemal Primary School with 8?th grade students. Empathic Skill Scale Form B and Communication Skills Scale have been used as the assessment tools of the study. There were 15 students in the experimental group and there were 15 students in the control group. Effective Communication Skills and Empathic Skills Training Programme which was developed during the research, was carried out on the experimental group in one session per week for ten weeks.Descriptive statistic and covariance analysis were used to analyze data.Results showed that, there was no significant effect of Effective Communication Skills and Empathic Skills Training Programme on students? communication skills level, on the other hand, significant effect was found on their empathic skills level.
