Analysis of the upper primary school students? levels of utilization of information and communication technologies

The main aim of this research is to determine upper primary school students? levels of utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to determine whether the levels of student?s utilization changes or not according to the social and pedagogic variables. In the first stage; The ?Scale of Utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)? including 5 dimensions (acquiring of information, research and examination, communication, entertainment-game and self expression) and 18 questions was developed. The final form of the scale was applied with 734 upper primary school students selected sample from universe. At the following steps; the students? situations of ICT in their homes, the most utilization aims of ICT, levels of utilization of ICT and whether the levels of the student?s utilization of ICT changes or not according to gender, school grade level, general point average, the situation of parents? education and occupation variables were researched. Afterwards the applying research; the levels of students? utilization of ICT were determined middle level for acquiring of information, research and examination, communication, and entertainment-game dimensions and low level for self expression dimension. When the students? levels of utilization of ICT were generally seen; there was no significant difference statistically between total score of scale and gender. And finally, significant results were found that levels of students? utilization of ICT for the students? general point average and parents? educational and occupation situation.
