Abstract (EN)

In this study, retrieving methods of computer based training and traditional training onteaching of the ?Discovering Space? unit in Science Course; attitude towards Science Course, the permanence of the acquired behavior and the effect on the students? success wereanalyzed. This study was conducted for four weeks in second period of 2004-2005 training andeducation year in Diyarbakır Şehit Namık Tümer Primary School on six grade classes. In theschool where the study was implemented, two even groups consist of 71 students from the6/A class, as being implemented to the Computer Based Training Method and 6/C class, asbeing implemented to the Traditional Method were defined. In the study, pre-test and post-testpatterns were used. For data gathering material achievement test and attitude scales wereused.According to the statistical analysis results of the diagnosis, the scores of the groupbeing implemented to the computer based training method was higher compared to the scoresof the group which was being implemented to the traditional method and the difference wassignificantly observed. Due to this information, retrieving of the computer based trainingmethod was more effective than the traditional method. Besides, no significant difference wasseen on the scores of attitude towards the science course of the experiment and control groupstudents in the research diagnosis. According to this result, the implemented methods createdthe same effect in terms of attitude. The permanence scores of the computer based trainingmethod group were higher than the traditional method implemented group. For this reason, computer based training method was more effective in terms of permanence. Experimentgroup students? achievement scores were higher and the difference was significant comparedto the control group students?. To sum up, computer based training method was found to bemore efficient in terms of students? achievements when compared to the traditional trainingmethod.Key Words: Science Teaching, Computer Assisted Teaching, Traditional TeachingMethod.
