The purpose of this research is to determine and compare the burnout levels of primary school inspectors according to their some social, demographic and professional characteristics. The study is conducted in a descriptive way.The universe of the research consists of 242 primary school inspectors who work in Ankara (175), Malatya (52) and Muş (15) provinces during the 2008-2009 educational period. 220 questionnaires out of 242 were returned.In the research, personal information form which was developed by the researcher and ?Maslach Burnout Inventory? which was developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) were used to get data.SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Science, 16) packet programme was used in order to analyse the statistical datas determined at the research. Frequency, Percent, Arithmetic Mean, Standart Deviation, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson Correlation tests were used for the evulation of the data, the upper limit of erronous ratio has been accepted as 0.05.According to the results of research, the following findings were obtained:Primary school inspectors live the exhaustion at medium level in terms of `emotional exhaustion? and at low level in terms of `personal success and insensitive?.Inspectors who are married, but living far away from the family and the single ones have more emotional exhaustion than those who are living as married. The ones whose perceptions regarding the future of their profession are negative have more emotional exhaustion than those whose perceptions are positive. It was seen that the inspectors who have emotional exhaustion do not want to choose the same profession again. The inspectors who have negative attitudes towards to the dignity of their profession live more emotional exhaustion than those who have positive attitudes. The inspectors who do not participate in social and cultural activities experience more emotional exhaustion than those who participate in social and cultural activities. Emotional exhaustion levels of primary school inspectors don?t indicate significant differences in terms of gender, age, title, seniority, educational status, the place of work. The primary school inspectors who are between 31-40 years old have more sense of insensitive. Accordingly, rofess level is decreasing in terms of insensitive as people become older. The inspectors who have 1-5 years and 6-10 years seniortiy experience more insensitive feelings than those who have more seniority than 10 years.The dimension of insensitive showed no significant differences according to the variables gender, marital status, names, academic background, rofessional look to the future, choose their profession again, sensing their profession?s dignity, the function space, participating in social and cultural activities.The primary school inspectors who do not regard their profession as a respectable profession live the sense of personal failure in a higher level.Personal achievement dimension does not differ significantly in terms of gender, age, marital status, title, seniority, educational status, perceiving the future of their profession, the province where they work, allocating time for social and cultural activities variables.Key Words: Primary School İnspector, Burnout, social, demographic and professional characteristics
