Investigation of the matters confronted in application of the new English teachering curriculum for primary schools? 4th and 5th grades (A case study in Gaziantep)

The aim of this study is to investigate the matters confronted in application of the new English teaching curriculum for Primary Schools? 4th and 5th grades. With this aim the questionnaire developed by the researchers have been applied to 93 teachers working at primary schools in Gaziantep Şehitkamil and Şahinbey towns in 2007-2008 education year. The model applied in the study is Descriptive Method. ?Normality Test? has been made to find out whether the distribution of descriptional variables are normal or not. Due to test results ?Kruskall Wallis? and ?Mann Whitney? has been made to find out if there is a statistical meaningful difference between sex, employment situation, duty durations, graduation fields and inservice training taking situation of teachers and their impressions about the dimensions (object,content,teaching-learning process, evaluating and general view to the curriculum) of the programme. According to the data obtained at the end of the study, some meaningful differences between inservice tranining taking situaition of the teachers and their impressions about teaching-learning process, evaluating and general view to the curriculum of the programme. heve been determined. The frequencies of the answers given by the teachers has been estimated and the findings has been explained in the frame of literature.
