Define the relationship between the democratic attitudes and dogmatic attitudes of primary school teachers, teachers in primary school mastering in a branch

This research is implemented to define the relationship between the democratic attitudes and dogmatic attitudes of primary school teachers, teachers in primary school mastering in a branch. In this research, 262 teachers from different public schools in Kadıköy, Üsküdar and Ümraniye in Istanbul are investigated. Relational Scan Method is selected as the method of the research. In order to gather demographical parameters, a personnel information form is developed by the researcher. Additionally, Democratic Attitude Scale and Dogmatism Scale are used.In this research, for results in abnormal scattering format and results with normal distribution different techniques are used. For abnormal scatterings, non-parametrical techniques were more proper, whereas for normal scatterings, parametric analysis was more proper to use. Additionally, Unaffiliated Group t Test, Non-Parametrical Kruskal Wallis-H Test, One Dimensional Variance Analysis (ANOVA-stands for Analysis of Variance), Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis are also applied with .05 percent significance.According to the results encountered by the end of the research, there is a relationship between democratic attitudes -related to the given on-the-job trainings and dogmatic attitudes of the teachers working in primary schools. When the teachers take on-the-job trainings about democratic attitudes, they get higher points on Dogmatism Total Points compared to the teachers who didn?t get such training. As a result, in-service trainings about democratic attitudes are effective on teachers? dogmatic conceptions and on their dogmatic way of thinking.Lastly, after analysis for attaining the relationship between Dogmatism Total Points and Democratic Attitude Total Points, it?s determined that the higher dogmatic total points the teachers get, considerably lower democratic attitude total points they have. So, dogmatic thinking of teachers is related to their democratic attitudes.Key Words: Authoritarianism, Dogmatism, Democratic Attitude, Authoritarian Attitude, Teachers
