Analysis of the relationship between the emotional intelligence levels and conflict management strategies of the primary school teachers

The basic aim of this master?s thesis is to display the relationship between emotional intelligence levels and conflict management strategies of the primary school teachers.The scope of the study is comprised of primary school teachers in the central districts of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil in the province of Gaziantep. Then, the sample of the study consists of 310 teachers randomly chosen among the teachers in the schools mentioned. The data of the research have been collected with emotional intelligence and conflict management strategies scales.The data of the study have been calculated using two-way Anova. As a result of the statistical analyses, it has been found out that the teachers having high emotional intelligence level has higher points of ?integrity?, ?compromise? and ?adaptation? among conflict management strategies than those with level of emotional intelligence. A meaningful difference has been determined among the ?adaptation? strategy, one of the conflict management strategies used by the teachers, according to the gender variable. It has been concluded that teachers? years of employment does not have meaningful impact on any of the conflict management strategies.When common effects are handled, it is seen that emotional intelligence and gender have meaningful influence on only domination and emotional intelligence and years of employment on the avoidance strategy.
