Thematic analysis of secondary school Turkish textbooks in the context of National Education and Turkish course's general objectives

Education is the process of creating a permanent behavioral change in individuals through life. Be qualified for this process depends on the preparation of a good curriculum. Curriculums provide accurate and orderly use of education planning process. The main tools in the teaching process are textbooks. Qualified textbooks will improve the quality of education and teaching process as well. Textbooks are used by teachers and students commonly and they are important materials that have effective power for providing behaviors in the curriculum to the students. Especially with the texts in them, Turkish textbooks are the best metarials to undertake this role. Secondary school period is very important periods of students for earning love of reading and reading habits. Textbooks at this period must be prepared for showing aims of curriculum better and giving love of reading and reading habit to the students while they are gaining basic skills. In this study "Thematic Analysis Of Secondary School Turkish Textbooks In The Context Of National Education And Turkish Course's General Objectives" was performed. In the first part of the study; problem of study, purpose of study, the importance of study and limitations are mentioned. In the second part of the study; concepts and theoretical knowledge which are closely related to the subject of the study such as language, education, constructivist education, thematic approach, textbooks, text, themes are given. In the third part of the study; method is described. In the fourth part of the study; under the title of "Results and Comments", themes in Turkish textbooks are given and the texts in textbooks are analyzed considering both the general objectives of the Turkish National Education and Turkish course. In the fifth and final section, results and suggestions about the study are explained. As a result of the study, the text in Turkish textbooks of Turkish secondary school is determined to be appropriate to objectives of the Turkish National Education and Turkish course. Some deficiencies were identified in the texts and suggestions were made about them to overcome these deficiencies.
