Primary school 1-4. analysis of texts in class Turkish course books in terms of value transmission

The aim of this research is to examine the reading texts in primary school from 1-4th grade in Turkish textbooks in terms of value transmission. In the research, phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The study group of the research was determined by using easily accessible sampling method. Accordingly, the study group of the research is consisted of seventy teachers that working at primary school from first to forth grade that bounded to the centre of Bingol in 2018-2019 academic year of the spring semester. The research data were collected through an interview form consisting of open-ended semi-structured interview questions with the examination of reading texts in 1-4 Grade Turkish textbooks. Descriptive and content analysis were used together in the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the research. According to the research results obtained from these findings: 1. It has been determined that the root values in the program are not addressed in the readings examined. 2. According to thr studied texts, the value of "love" has been mostly mentioned on the 1st, 2nd and 4th graders. 3. The values that take place in the readings are found in quality understandable and useable according to the student. 4. It was determined that the qualities of the activities prepared for the values are low and the individual activities for the values could not be found. 5. It was concluded that the values in the Turkish course reading items were not sufficient and that there should be other values that should be gained in primary school years apart from these values. 6. In line with the opinions of the teachers, it is assumed that the values in the reading can be personalized. Keywords: Value, Values Education,.Reading Text, Turkish Textbook
