Relationship between on attitude towards life studies lesson of 3. rd grade elemantary students and democratic attitude

In the research, it is aimed to examine 3rd grade primary school students with attitudes towards life science lessons and their democratic attitudes to investigate the relationship between them. Relational research model is used in the research. The descriptive screening method is used in the examination of the attitudes of the 3rd grade primary school students towards life science lesson and democratic attitudes according to demographic variables. The universe of the research is composed of 6663 students in the central primary school attached to the Ministry of National Education located in the central districts of Elazığ province, which passed grade 3 in the 2017-2018 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 826 primary school students in 13 schools in the first period of 2017-2018 academic year. The "Attitude Scale Towards Life Science Education" developed by Zayimoglu Öztürk and Coşkun (2015) and the "Democratic Attitude Scale" developed by Erbil and Kocabaş (2017) are used in the research. The research was applied to the students in one session. The application took approximately 40 minutes for each class. Correlation coefficient of Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test, mean (x), standard deviation (ss), frequency, percent distributions, Mann Whitney U-test, Kruskal Wallis H-Test and Spearman Brown rank difference are used in the analysis of obtained data. Findings obtained from result of the research bshows that; According to the gender variable of 3rd grade students' positive and negative attitudes towards life science lesson are not significantly different. According to the educational level of the mother of 3rd grade students; positive and negative attitudes towards the lesson of life science do not make a meaningful difference. There is a significant difference between the democratic attitudes of the third grade students according to their mother educational status, [χ2 (4) = 9.929, p <0.05]. According to the educational status of their father, the positive and negative attitudes towards life science lesson are not significantly different. There is a significant difference in negative attitudes towards life science lesson, [χ2 (4) = 13.535, p <0.05]. According to the educational status of the father, it is found that there is no significant difference between the democratic attitudes of the 3rd grade students of primary school. According to the number of siblings; positive and negative attitudes towards the science of life lesson are not significantly different among 3rd grade students. There is a moderate, positive and meaningful relationship between attitudes towards the lesson of life science and democratic attitudes, (r = 0.346, p <.01) among primary school students of 3rd grade. There is a moderate positive and significant relationship between positive attitudes towards life science lesson and democratic attitudes, (r = 0.325, p <.01). Positive and significant relationship between negative attitudes towards life science lesson and democratic attitudes is found at a low level, (r = 0.225, p <.01). According to mean and standart deviation values, 3rd grade students have a positive attitude towards the lesson of life and their level of democratic attitudes are high.
