Abstract (EN)

Schools are the places in which the values that are gained at home can be reinforced. In primary school, as the keystone of educational system, the basic knowledge and skills that are required to live in better conditions and to live in a bal-ance with the other people in the society are aimed to be taught. For the educators who want to develop expected attitudes, values have a significant effect. One of these values is responsibility, and it is thought that responsibility is an important factor that affects both daily life and academic success. It is also believed that not only for academic success but also for being a good person, teaching values has a significant role in education systems. Undesired student behaviors are major problems in education and they affect teaching environment negatively. In this aspect, "responsibility" is a value that should be acquired by students as an education value. It is believed that the most suitable way to teach responsibility is teacher ap-plications. This study is conducted for the aim of determining the effects of an action research study which is about increasing responsibility for learners' undesired beha-viors on students. The sampling of the study was determined as fifteen students in 4. Grade- Section B who are learning in the primary school in which the researcher has been teaching as a teacher. As being a teacher in the same school gave an advantage to the researcher on following the study by herself. Some individual and school-based responsibilities in terms of the value of re-sponsibility were given to the students. Before starting the action research, the beha-viors of the students were observed and these were recorded. The study was planned for nine weeks as an action research study and approximately three-four course hours per each Tuesday were applied on the plan. The course plans cover the activities such as (1) act-out on a story, (2) dreaming via stories, (3) listening and reading poems, (4) singing, (5) lighting a torch via games, (6) drama workshops, (7) "menemen" actiivity, (8) watching a movie and (9)workshops. During and after the activities, the findings which were gathered via teacher observation, students' feedback and the parents' opinions on the plans are presented in terms of the action research. According to the findings, it is found that there was a positive improvement on students' awareness in terms of the term "responsibility". Keywords: Responsibility, school responsibility, primary school students, ac-tion research, action plan.
