Teaching the value of responsibility in primary school 4th grade social studies class with animation supported educational applications

The purpose of this study is to examine the teaching of the value of responsibility in the 4th grade primary school social studies course with animation-supported educational practices. The study group of the research consists of 25 students attending the 4th grade of a public school in Trabzon. In the research, the "nested pattern" approach, one of the mixed method research designs, was used in teaching the value of responsibility through animation-supported educational applications. In this context, it is possible to understand the research problems more easily. Its impact on students' level of understanding the value of responsibility was explained with quantitative data and further supported by qualitative data. Responsibility Value Scale and activity evaluation forms were used to collect research data. Data was collected in accordance with quantitative and qualitative data. Students participated in a total of 5 weeks (15 lesson hours). Pre-test data were collected 1 week before the application and post-test data were collected 1 week after the application. Content analysis was used in the analysis part of qualitative data. The prepared data was first coded and then interpreted and the findings were reported. As a result of the research, it was determined that teaching students' responsibility values through animation-supported educational applications had a positive effect on students' gaining responsibility values in the pre-test and post-test scale scores. In activities related to the value of responsibility, students; Their views on issues such as being a conscious consumer, their responsibilities at home, school and the environment, and the situations they may encounter when they do not fulfill their responsibilities showed that they are aware of the value of responsibility.
