Effect of the prediction-observation-explanation method on academic success attitude and retention on primary secondary sincus

In this study, the effect of POE strategy applied to fourth grade students in Ankara province center in the fall semester of 2016-2017 academic year in Ankara was investigated. A total of 60 primary school fourth grade students were participated in the study, 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. In this study, pretest-post test control group quasi-experimental design was used. At the end of the 8 week study, students' academic achievement and attitudes towards the Science course were compared with the results of the students in the control group in which the classical teaching method was applied. When the results of the research were examined, it was seen that the attitudes towards the Science course and the academic achievement were significantly higher in the control group compared to the students in the experimental group where the POE method was applied.
