The examination of teacher views about various factors related to applicability of the multiple intelligence theory at primary school

The purpose of this study was to examine the views of the teachers at primary school about the applicability of the multiple intelligence theory according to the variation of gender, situation of education, span of service and duty place. This study is a kind of mixed methodically examination which use the methods of quantitative and qualitative research together in the scanning model. The universe of the study consists of 5643 primary-school teachers who work at primary schools which were joined to the Ministry of National Education in the province of Diyarbakır in 2015-2016 education-training year. The sample of this study consists of in the quantitative dimention in the province of Diyarbakır in village 100, in distict 100 and in the city centre 100 totally 300 primary-school teachers; in the sample of the qualitative dimension of study in the province of Diyarbakır in village 10, in distinct 10 and in the city centre 10 totally 30 primary-school teachers. The quantitative data of the study was collected by using the likert type scale which was 20-item 5-point, the data which was gained was analyzed with the SPSS for windows 22.0 package program. The qualitative data of the research was collected by using semi-structured interview forms, the content analysis was reviewed of the data which was gained. According to the consequence of quantitative study, it was seen that primary-school teachers had a positive viewpoint about the applicability of the Multiple Intelligence Theory in general. Also, in the consequence of the study in terms of the gender variable there weren't significant difference among the views of teachers; it was found a significant difference among them in terms of the education situation, service span and duty place variation. According to the consequence of the qualitative research it was seen that primary-school teachers had a positive viewpoint about the applicability of the Multiple Intelligence Theory in general. Besides, it was seen that primary school teachers used the Multiple Intelligence Theory which was among the main reasons in teaching methods and techniques provides the permanence in education, en covers the interest and the abilities of the students, provides the understanding of the courses easier. Whereas, it was seen that primary school teachers couldn't apply the Multiple Intelligence Theory which was among the reasons in teaching methods and techniques, the absence of education-training environment where applying the Multiple Intelligence Theory and the fear of not being able to complete the curriculum.
