Abstract (EN)

İmam Hatip High Schools have gone through several phases of changes since their establishment. While they were opened with the name of Medresetü'l Eimme ve'l Huteba, during Ottoman Empire, they continued as Religious Vocational High School in 1924, and İmam Hatip Courses in 1949. Later, these schools' presence were argued continually, they were closed and opened , currently they exists as İmam Hatip Secondary Schools and İmam Hatip High Schools. In this study, students' reasons for preference of these schools which is popularity is increasing recently and what they are expecting from these schools are tried to identify by displaying the changes in İmam Hatip High Schools since their establishment. Documantation method and survey techniques were used in the study. The population of this study is the students of Ömer Özmimar Boy Anatolian İmam Hatip High School, Mehmet Hayri Akınal Anatolian İmam Hatip High School and Şehitkamil Municipality Girl Anatolian High School in 2014-2015 Academic Year. Survey questions are applied to 400 students in these school randomly. 40 questions asked to the students. It is tried to identify why the students prefer İmam Hatip High School, their expectations about this school and in which level their expectations are come true.
