The relationship between imam-hatip middle school students' intrinsic religious motivations and school motivations: The case of Erzincan province

The main problem of this research is "Does intrinsic religious motivation have an effect on Imam Hatip secondary school students' school motivation?". The sub-problems of this research are as follows: "Do the intrinsic religious motivations of imam hatip middle school students significantly predict their school motivation?", "Do the intrinsic religious motivations of imam hatip middle school students show significant differentiation according to gender and socioeconomic level variables?", "Do the school motivations of imam hatip middle school students show significant differentiation according to gender and socioeconomic level variables?". The aim of the research is to try to determine the relationships between imam hatip middle school students' intrinsic religious motivation and school motivation. The research consists of theoretical and empirical sections. Intrinsic Religious Motivation Scale and School Motivation Scale were used in the study. The questionnaire form was applied to 248 students studying in all imam hatip middle schools in Erzincan province and its districts. The data obtained in the study were evaluated in terms of gender and socioeconomic level using SPSS 20 statistical program. In this context, a weak significant relationship was found between intrinsic religious motivation and school motivation. While no significant relationship was found between gender and intrinsic religious motivation, a significant relationship was found between gender and school motivation. While there was no significant relationship between socioeconomic level and intrinsic religious motivation, there was a significant relationship between socioeconomic level and school motivation.
