Imam al-Qushayri anda his defence of the Ash'arism

The purpose of the study is to investigate Imam al-Qushayri, who opposed the practices called as Second Mihne in the history, and his defence style of the Ash'arism. The Second Mihne which was put into practice for some political reasons appeared in Nishapur between 445-1053/455-1063. In these events led by Tuğrul Bey's vizier Kunduri, some ideas were associated with Imam al-As'hari. The course rings of the scholars affiliated to the As'hari sect were destroyed and their educaiton activities were wanted to be stopped. Besides, the scholars who want to oppose these practices were either imprisoned or exiled. Abd al-Kerim al-Qushayri who is a versatile scholar works on the field of miysticism, interpretation, aqaid, hadith etc. showed a reaction to the practices made during the Second Mihne with a booklet whose title is Şikâyetü Ehli's-Sünne bi hikâyeti mâ nâlehum mine'l-Mihne. In this booklet, Imam al-Qushayri aimed to defend the Ash'arism made an effort to prove that the words attributed to Imam al-Ash'ari did not belong to him. When he is explaining the basic arguments of Imam al-Ash'ari and the Ash'arism, he made interferences with both evidences transferred from scholars and mental evidences.
