Imbalance of pro and anti –inflammatory cytokines in rheumatoid arthritis patients in Al-Anbar governorate

In this study, the ages of the two study groups ranged from 28 to 70 years, the results indicated that the average age of patients with rheumatoid arthritis was 58.33 years, their ages ranged from 32 to 70 years, while the average age of healthy people was 47.60 years, their ages ranged from 28 to 65 years respectively. The results showed that women are more susceptible to rheumatoid arthritis, as 66 women out of a total of 100 cases were recorded, while the number of infected males was 34 males. The results indicated that the two study groups (the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the control group) differed in average BMI values, as the patient group was significantly superior in increasing BMI values, recording 38,60 kg/m2 compared to 27.25 kg/m2 for the control group. The results showed that the two tested groups differed significantly in the ESR values. The group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis achieved a significant increase in the ESR value, reaching 24.24, while the control group recorded 15.34, respectively. The data revealed that there was a significant decrease in the average red blood cell count values for the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to the group of healthy people. The patients group recorded 3.73 ×106 cells/mL, while the control group recorded 5.05 × 106 cells/mL. The results revealed that there was a significant difference in the white blood cell count rate for the two tested groups. The results showed that the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis had a significant elevation in the white blood cell count rate to 7.78 × 103 cell / µL, while the group of healthy people recorded 6.80 × 103 cell/µL. The results indicated that the level of the cytokine IL1 increased significantly in the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis to 23.24 pg/mL, while the control group (healthy people) recorded 3.48 pg/mL, respectively. The results showed that the average level of the cytokine IL6 for the two groups studied differed significantly in its values. The group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis achieved a significant increase of 50.66 pg/mL, while the group of healthy persons which recorded 3.36 pg/mL. The results of measuring the levels of the cytokine IL20 in the two study groups confirmed that the level of the cytokine had increased significantly in the group of rheumatoid arthritis patients compared to the group of healthy people (46.03 vs. 15.02) pg/mL. The results showed that there is a clear significant difference between the TNF-alpha values for the two groups studied. The results showed that the group of rheumatoid arthritis patients had a significant increase in the values of this variable to 44.99 pg/mL, while the values of this variable were within normal values (23.83 pg/mL). The results revealed that there was a significant increase in the level of IFN-gamma in the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to people without rheumatoid arthritis (24.03 vs. 5.28) pg/mL. The results showed that the level of the cytokine IL4 showed significant superiority in the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, where it was recorded at 51.95 pg/mL, while the cytokine level was 9.09 pg/mL in the group of people without rheumatoid arthritis. The results revealed that the two studied groups differed significantly in the level of the cytokine IL10, as the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis recorded a significant increase in the level of the cytokine amounting to 29.24 pg/mL, while the value of the cytokine for the group of people without rheumatoid arthritis amounted to 6.46 pg/mL. The data showed that there was a significant increase in the IL13 level values for the group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, as it recorded 15.02 pg/mL, significantly superior to the group of people without rheumatoid arthritis, which recorded 1.63 pg/mL.
