The impact of Islamic leadership style on job satisfaction in Islamic firms in Turkey

Leadership is considered the backbone of organizations, institutions, and societies, in both Western and Islamic societies. In Islam, leadership is defined as justice, truthfulness, trust, and responsibility in performing duties through joint consultation and cooperation between the leader and subordinates, which reflects positively on subordinate job satisfaction and achieves the desired goals. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Islamic leadership style, as represented by its four dimensions (Justice, Truthfulness, Trust, and Consultation), on job satisfaction in Turkish Islamic firms. To achieve the objectives of the research, the quantitative approach was followed in collecting data through the simple random sampling method. A survey method was applied, and a self- administered questionnaire was distributed as a research tool. The sample consisted of (244) participants from employees of the Kuwait Turkish Bank, AL Baraka Bank, and IHH organization in Istanbul - Turkey. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between Islamic leadership practices represented in its four dimensions and job satisfaction for the study sample. The results also revealed a positive impact of the Islamic leadership style and job satisfaction by 70.8%. Accordingly, it was concluded that there is a positive impact between the Islamic leadership style and job satisfaction in Islamic firms in Turkey. The more Islamic leadership practices, the more positive impact on job satisfaction. A set of useful recommendations were presented based on the findings.
