Özet (EN)

Infertility which is described as not receiving pregnancy despite unprotected and regular sexual intercourse in a one year period is detected by 15% of the couples. Male and female factor in the aetiology may be detected in similar rates. Especially idiopatic infertility which is recorded as 20 % of the cases is a new topic of research. A total of 150 patients consisting 4 groups as asthenozoospermia, oligozoospermia, oligoasthenoteratozoospermia and teratozoospermia with 30 patients per each group and 30 controls applied to the Urology Clinic of Firat University Hospital because of infertility between June 2014 and June 2015 are included into the study in order to evaluate the physiology of fertility and efficacy of ion channels on the aetiology of infertility. Beside routine infertility evaluation patients were evaluated with CatSper1, 2, 3, 4, Hv1, KCNU1, Slo3 and TMEM16A gen expression. CatSper1, 2, 3, 4, KCNU1, Slo3 and TMEM16A gen expression by asthenozoospermia patients were detected as lower compared to the controls. Hv1 expression showed no significant difference. CatSper1, 2, 3,4, KCNU1, TMEM16A gen expression by teratozoospermia patients were detected as lower compared to the controls. Hv1 and Slo3 expression showed no significant difference. CatSper1, CatSper4, Hv1, Slo3,TMEM16A gen expression by oligozoospermia patients were detected as higher compared to the controls. CatSper2 and CatSper3 expression showed no significant difference and KCNU1 gen expression was detected as lower compared to the controls. CatSper1, CatSper4, Hv1, Slo3,TMEM16A gen expression by oligoasthenoteratozoospermia patients were detected as higher compared to the controls. CatSper2 and KCNU1 expression showed no significant difference and CatSper3 gen expression was detected as lower compared to the controls. As a result we have detected that these ion channels have an effect on sperm progressive motility and morphology and mutations in these ion channels may result in infertility. Key Words: Infertility, CatSper1, 2, 3, 4, Hv1, KCNU1, Slo3, TMEM16A
