The influence of teaching ?if clauses? with the communicative approach on achievements and attitudes of 11th. grade students' towards English lessons

In this study, the influence of teaching ?if clauses? with the Communicative Approach on achievements and attitudes of 11th. Grade students? towards English lessons were investigated. A total of 26, 11th. Grade students aged 16 ? 17 participated in the study. Three lesson plans for 12 hours of English lessons were prepared according to the Communicative Approach. Data were collected by employing an attitude questionnaire and an achievement test which were implemented at the beginning and at the end of the study. The results show that the attitude of the students towards learning ?if clauses? with the Communicative Approach doesn?t change in both a control group and an experimental group at the end of the study. The study also proves that the achievements of the students? towards learning ?If clauses? with the Communicative Approach increased in both groups, but in the expeirmental group it increases more positively. Thus, we can say that teaching ?if clauses? with the Communicative Approach doesn?t influence attitude of the students? towards English, it influences achievement of the students? towards learning English.
