A sosyological research on internet cafes and net-addiction: Diyarbakır example

The research with the title "A Sociological Research On Internet Cafes and Net- Addiction: Diyarbakır Example" has been performed in order to determine the effects of internet usage on social relations and socio-cultural characteristics of internet users and to specify the features of internet cafes where almost everyday a new one is opened in our country. Surveys were applied to the internet users in selected internetcafes and interviews were made with the cafe owners. The sample was selected as 42 internetcafes and 150 internet users from these cafes which were located in Dağkapı, Yenişehir, Ofis, Bağlar and Cezaevi. The aim of this research is to obtain information about the internetcafes increasing rapidly and to reach the users in every age, sex, income and education level. In addition, whether the internet usage causes net-addiction and social isolation or not has been investigated. In addition to the internet users, the interviews with the owners of these cafes have been performed. It is pointable that the level of the addiction and social isolation of the internet users in the internet cafes differanciates with the variables such as age, marital status, level of education, the job of the father, monthly income, the frequency of the internet usage.
