Young individuals use digital technologies appropriately and/or inappropriately as it can be clearly seen during their making use of them for their daily lives, school works, or other purposes. In Chapter 1, the problem was stated in order to present the purpose of this doctoral research. As this research field has still held a powerful significance based on theory and practice, to propose a new framework for the research design and methodology was necessary. In Chapter 2, this doctoral research combined Foucault's view on Power Relations and Goffman's Theory of Self Representation with several factors, and the thesis proposed a research model which would help understand (a) the contextual and cultural factors causing cyberbullying, and (b) the need of (new) media literacy for young individuals by looking at the consequences of cyberbullying types on bullies, victims and bystanders. In Chapter 3, a methodological approach was provided for this empirical doctoral research. This chapter elaborated on the research design based on the methods being used, data collection methods, the tools being used to analyze the data qualitatively and quantitatively. Chapter 4 concluded the findings and the analysis. This chapter draws conclusions based on the research model and seven hypotheses, and reflected the theories discussed and combined in previous chapters as they have been related to this problematic experienced online. The results of this doctoral research provide a greater understanding of such a conflict resolution by getting a general and widespread viewpoint of cyberbullying on several levels such as gender, grade level, districts of schools and residential areas, access to technology, time spent on social media, unknown friending online.
