Abstract (EN)

The thesis study covers the design and configuration of the plasma-based (plasma jet) surgical device system as an alternative to the mechanical systems and electrosurgical systems used in surgical operations, and the performance tests of the prototype system in vitro tests. The purpose of this thesis is; To provide a controlled tissue evaporation with plasma and to create a prototype device that will minimize the damage that may occur in the surrounding tissues. The thesis study deals with a prototype device that can be specifically used in spine discectomy operations due to the studies carried out during the "Surgical Instrument Design and Implementation for Spine Discectomy Surgeries" project, which is the Scientific and Technological Research Project of TÜBİTAK 1001, numbered 116E144, of which I have undertaken the scholarship. The system as electronic design; includes high voltage power supply circuit and pedal-trigger circuit, as mechanical design; contains designs of probe assembly and device case assembly. As a result of the designs created, with the completion of the appropriate system integration, device operating parameters, electrical safety tests and "medical device regulation" studies and classification of the device were carried out. As a result of all these studies, in order to determine the in vitro performance of the device, a standard reference synthetic polymer material was produced and in-vitro tests were carried out in accordance with the experimental design matrices. As a result, the analysis of the area information of the destructions created on the reference synthetic material with the configured prototype device by "scanning electron microscopy (SEM)" and the analysis of the effects of the destruction on the surrounding tissue with the "atomic force microscopy (AFM)" are presented.
