Abstract (EN)
The significance and usage area of composite material tends to increase not only aviation industry but also defense, automotive, and naval industry recent decades. For this reason, it is significant to investigation of the damage resistance of composites under the explosion loads. The objective of this paper, to examine explosive load effects on layered hybrid and other combinations of Carbon Epoxy and Glass Epoxy. There are numerous parameters that affect the strength of composite materials, including material characteristics, material thickness, and stacking configurations. In this thesis, blast analyses were conducted with Carbon/Epoxy and Glass/Epoxy to test whether a composite material meets strength requirements. In the analyses, plates consisting of six, eight, and twelve layers and sequence configurations with a thickness of 0.25 mm were created. Analyses were performed using ANSYS by defining TNT of different sizes. The strength values of Carbon/Epoxy and Glass/Epoxy and, the rates of rupture in the plates were compared and other mechanical properties were investigated. An increase in the number of layers in the plate resulted in a noticeable improvement in its strength, which, in turn, led to a significant decrease in the extent of damage sustained. Analyses performed on hybrid composite plates, incorporating sequential use of two distinct materials (Carbon/Epoxy and Glass/Epoxy) to establish a more homogeneous structure, revealed increased strength in comparison to configurations with lower homogeneity. As a result, these more homogeneous sequences exhibited reduced deformation values.
