Investigation of hepatitis B virus essential genes and serum interleukin-6 levels in hepatitis B virus infection

According to what was stated the World Health Organization (WHO), hepatitis B is the leading cause of people deaths with estimated rate 820 000 in 2019. Moreover, there is no active treatment or vaccine available to cure acute hepatitis B. Therefore, the current study aims to evaluate the condition of patients with hepatitis B virus by measuring the severity of their infection with the virus and determining its genetic types and its effect on the inflammatory cytokine interleukin 6 using modern methods for this. The study groups were distributed into two groups for patients infected with hepatitis B virus and the second group for healthy people.As well as the results in the study showed an increase in the viral load of patien, as infection rates among the elderly were higher than other age groups due to their lack of immunity and increased diseases.It has also been noted that women are more suscep-tible to infection than men due to frequent plastic surgery and childbirth. The results showed that patients who live in rural areas are more susceptible to infection with hepatitis B than those who live in the city because rural people are less aware of health care through the use of contaminated tools in the same family and negligence in taking vaccines. The inflammatory cytokine interleukin 6 plays an important role in the course of infection with hepatitis B virus. The study revealed that patients infected with the hepatitis B virus had higher amounts of IL-6 in their blood., and it is much greater in pa-tients suffering from severe infections. Mean levels of IL-6 were higher in patients aged over 50 years compared to the other groups, it was also noted that its levels in females were higher than in males.
